WINEMAKING
The 2021 Vitesse Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is a masterful expression of Napa Valley’s unique terroir, capturing vivid varietal flavors with a depth and purity that is truly captivating.
Aromas of ripe black cherry and pomegranate rise gracefully from the glass, mingling with floral hints of rose petal and subtle undertones of walnut.
On the palate, this wine is both satiny and complex, with fine-grained tannins delivering a smooth mouthfeel that builds toward a long, lingering finish.
VINTAGE 2021
The 2021 growing season was defined by a warm, dry winter and an early start to the season, producing an intensely concentrated harvest.
- Winter: Limited rainfall, only 50% of the norm, led to a dry winter with temperatures remaining mild until late March.
- Spring: Budbreak arrived early in April, followed by a smooth flowering period in May.
- Summer: Consistent ripening occurred under sunny skies, with veraison appearing in early July.
- Harvest: Harvest began early with the first red grapes picked on August 31st, culminating in October.
Lower-than-average yields due to drought conditions contributed to small, intensely flavored berries, making 2021 one of the standout vintages in recent years.
2021 Vintage Highlights
Marked by one of the earliest harvests on record, the 2021 vintage saw lower yields that yielded fruit of extraordinary quality. For the first time in Vitesse Vineyards’ history, the Cabernet Sauvignon was crafted exclusively with this exceptional, single-variety fruit, reflecting the remarkable depth and purity of the vintage.
